What is it?

Everyday photography.

it’s an idea

it’s an obsession

it’s finding art

in everyday life.

Okay, so maybe we stole the name from the food network’s “everyday cooking” or something. The point is, it’s taking our cameras everywhere, while we do everything, and trying to capture the moment, or to make a moment to capture. Photography is many things – art, technical skill, manipulation of light, and a pleasure to do. But when we spend our time setting up our shots, perfectly orchestrating our backgrounds, foregrounds, and every other type of grounds we have available to us,we lose the magic that comes from the unexpected and the unplanned.

This isn’t some type of rant against those who setup their photography. We’re not going to stop posing pictures and setting things up either – but rather, hope to use the everyday things in our lives to increase our photographic skills so that when we find the unexpected, we can take advantage of what we’ve learned and capture it just the way we want to. The images we post may not always be pretty, or technically correct (though we hope they come out!) – but they’ll be real.
